What is Transrectal Ultrasound?
Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) is a specialized ultrasound examination that uses a small ultrasound probe placed gently through the rectum to obtain high-resolution images of the prostate and surrounding structures.
Why is TRUS done?
*Helps assess the prostate gland and seminal vesicles
*Identifies prostate enlargement and structural abnormalities
*Provides detailed imaging when further evaluation is required
*Can assist in fertility-related assessment and treatment planning
*May be used to guide certain procedures when clinically indicated
